Any workplace in Manitoba with 20 or more employees must have a safety and health committee. This course aims at helping participants to identify and interpret Manitoba JHSC member's functions and duties and to carry out their responsibilities to promote workplace health and safety. In Manitoba, the SafeWorkManitoba OHS regulations require that all potential joint health and safety committee members receive adequate instruction and training to competently fulfill their duties as committee members. OHS Safety Manuals Canada is proud to present our Online Safety Committee Basics Training Manitoba Course (JOSH Committee & JHSC Training Manitoba) which meets and exceeds all new Manitoba health and safety regulation requirements. The joint health and safety committee supports the employer's duty to ensure a healthy and safe workplace. The joint safety committee brings together representatives of the employer and the workers, to identify and help resolve health and safety issues in the workplace. The joint committee plays an important role in your occupational health and safety program, giving workers and employers a way to work together to identify and find solutions to workplace health and safety issues. According to SafeWork Manitoba OHS Regulations, all businesses with 20 or more employees must have a functioning JHSC committee. A Minimum of 4 members (but not more than 12 members) should be on your joint safety committee and present at your monthly JHSC meeting. However, more JHSC members, than 4, may be required on your committee based on the size and hazard rating of your business. ALL MEMBERS MUST BE TRAINED AS PER REGULATIONS. It is recommended to also train 1 to 2 alternates in case other members are absent during your monthly meeting. 50% can be management reps and 50% can be employee reps. You cannot have more management reps on your committee than employee reps. Employee Reps must be elected by the workers.
