The provincial legislation that deals with Saskatchewan occupational health and safety in construction focused workplaces is as follows: the Saskatchewan Employment Act (the Act); and the Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety Regulations; The Mines Regulations; and The Radiation Health and Safety Regulations. In Saskatchewan Canada, construction employers in moderate to high hazard workplaces with 5 to 9 workers are required by The Occupational Health and Safety Act to establish and maintain an OHS occupational health and safety program manual in accordance with the Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety Regulations. Section 13 of the Act also requires employers at prescribed places of employment with ten or more workers to establish and maintain an occupational health and safety program that meets the requirement of regulation 22.
Regulation 22 prescribes the required elements of an occupational health and safety program for construction employers with 10 or more workers.
