There are three sections to this self study course: JHSC Committees, Incident Investigations & Workplace Inspections. You will receive all the study material in PDF handouts, PDF power points, Videos, Forms and 3 Final exams. Complete the 3 final exams and forward all the exam(s) pages to the email provided to you on the exams - by PDF scan document or by taking pictures of each exam page (email information will be provided on the final exam copies). The exams are mostly multiple choice but do have some written component sections. Your exam(s) will then be marked by one of our consultants and your signed certificate of completion will be forwarded to you by email within 1 to 2 business days. We will match the incoming number of exams to your order total. A mark of 80% must be achieved on each exam in order to receive a certificate of completion. Any business in Newfoundland Labrador with 20 or more employees must establish a functioning joint health and safety committee in the workplace. This course aims at helping participants to identify and interpret Newfoundland OHS committee member's functions and duties and to carry out their responsibilities to promote workplace health and safety. In Newfoundland, WorkplaceNL OHS regulations require that all potential joint health and safety committee members receive adequate instruction and training to competently fulfill their duties as committee members. The joint safety committee brings together representatives of the employer and the workers, to identify and help resolve health and safety issues in the workplace. The joint committee plays an important role in your occupational health and safety program, giving workers and employers a way to work together to identify and find solutions to workplace health and safety issues. According to Newfoundland OHS Regulations, all businesses with 20 or more employees must have a functioning OHS committee. A Minimum of 2 to 4 members (but not more than 12) should be on your occupational health and safety committee and present at your monthly OHS Committee meeting. However, more JHSC members may be required on your committee based on the size and hazard rating of your business. ALL MEMBERS MUST BE TRAINED AS PER REGULATIONS. It is recommended to also train 1 to 2 alternates in case other members are absent during your monthly meeting. 50% can be management reps and 50% can be employee reps. You cannot have more management reps on your committee than employee reps. Employee Reps must be elected by the workers.
