​​According to the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation and Code of Alberta, it’s the employer’s responsibility to implement an Alberta occupational health and safety plan to prevent employee workplace injury and disease. This ensures that the employer is exercising due diligence in taking steps to meet with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation and Code of Alberta. 

All employers with 20 or more workers must have a formal (Template II) health and safety program plan that is developed in consultation with the joint work site health and safety committee or representative.​ Employers with fewer than 20 workers must have an informal (Template I) safety plan in place and have documentation in place that meets the requirements established by the OHS legislation. This includes assessment and control of workplace hazards and an emergency response plan. The employer must also consult with the health and safety representative.​

Does my safety manual template need to be updated every year?
No. Your health and safety manual will only need to be updated if there has been a major ohs regulation change in your province - for a particular topic. Regulation changes do not happen as often as you may think. You may not see any major regulation changes for many-many years (10+ years). However, if for any reason there is a major regulation change in your province - and one of your manual policies will require an edit - our team will email you many months ahead to give you a heads up! We will send you the new regulation requirements and editing your manual will only take a few minutes.
 
Are your health and safety manual templates up to date with current provincial regulations?
​Yes. All our current health and safety plan templates have been updated to meet with current provincial occupational health and safety regulations.

What is the difference between the human resources, general industry I, II and the construction safety manual template?
Our General industry safety plan, is specifically designed for any industry/business in your province which is NOT construction related. General Industry Template I is ideal for businesses with less than 20 employees. General Industry Template II is ideal for businesses with 20 or more employees. Our Construction industry safety plan is specifically designed for construction related businesses in your province for either small to large businesses. Our HR manual has been specifically designed for any business across Canada who is looking to develop employment labour standards policies for their employees.

Can I request to add more policies or procedures to your templates made specific to my type of business?
Yes you can! Our safety manual templates have been developed to meet with the minimum legal requirements for each province which all businesses must follow. However, we can add additional safety and health policies to our templates which can be developed, by one of our consultants, to be made specific to your business tasks. The cost for additional policies or procedures are as follows. Payment for the upgrade of our templates must be made prior to the actual upgrade. The upgrade itself will take anywhere from 3 to 5 business day to complete. A copy of your upgraded health and safety manual template will be emailed to you in MS Word and PDF format upon completion. We will also add in your company logo and company into the program for you.

What if your safety manual template has a policy in it that does not apply to my business, can your template still work for my business?
